Review of the film Icy Heart 2

The Disney studio has been working on a film adaptation of The Snow Queen for decades. One by one, the classic fairy tales submitted to the skilled hands of the animators, and only the story of the Lady of frost remained a project to which the right approach was unsuccessfully sought. In the 2010s, when the "fairy tale" theme gained momentum again, the Disney bosses firmly decided to move the "Snow Queen" off the ground in any way: for this, the creators had to come from the other side. After several years of work, there was less and less of Andersen's tale, until directors and screenwriters Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee got to the heart of this story - and the heart of Elsa, the lady of the cold. As the years go by, everything is calm in Randelli: Elsa and Anna live soul to soul, Kristoff is going to propose to the youngest princess, but he can't choose an opportunity for this (and even his faithful friend reindeer Svenn can't help him with this), and Olaf, enjoying life, gradually begins to think about philosophical problems After all, he is no longer some kind of frivolous young snowman.

However, everything changes when Elsa begins to hear a distant mystical voice - she goes to this call, not even realizing that she, her friends, her kingdom, and even the history of Yendell itself will become completely different as a result of this journey. Paradoxically, "Ice Heart" is both one of the most popular and one of the most unusual Disney studio animations. The cartoon, which focuses on the theme of sisterhood, became the highest-grossing animated film in history and, in the best traditions of the "golden era" of Disney, even turned into a musical (thus becoming on a par with textbook classics like Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King). Like the first part, the sequel focuses on exploring family relationships, but this time it's not just the relationship between sisters - it's literally a family story that goes deep into the family tree of the royal family of Erendell.

But, of course, this is not only a story about the past: it is also a story about self-awareness in the context of the lives of previous generations. This theme in "Iceheart II" does not develop to the same extent as, for example, in "Coco", but this is not surprising: in "Coco" it was a key motive, but here it is rather an occasion to reflect on issues of overcoming social trauma, reconciliation and the search for justice. However, touching on such serious topics, "Icy Heart II" does not lose its trademark humor "from Olaf" or its songs - it seems that this balance was calculated and carefully observed.
